Vanessa Van Meerhaeghe is a belgian painter and illustrator from Ronse. Her work is influenced by fashion icons, patterns and nature, taking her subjects out of context and placing them in the midst of a colorful environment.
Her illustrative style captures alienated landscapes and conveys a bizarre sense of deja-vu. Although her techniques vary, she often starts a piece by drawing watercolors on paper and experimenting with color.
When she likes the result, she transfers the concept to a canvas using acrylic paint.
Vanessa studied fashion design at the Academy of Ghent and has been active in the Belgian fashion world as a designer for many years.In addition to her work as a designer, she was also active as an illustrator for various magazines. Vanessa has devoted herself entirely to painting for several years and has been doing so full-time since the end of 2021.She has already exhibited in Antwerp and Brussels and has a regular column as an illustrator at the fashion magazine Marie-Claire.
