Bas Pattyn is a Belgian artist that lives between Ostend and Brussels. He studied graphic design and furniture design, from where he expanded his interest in creating artwork. Minimalistic objects cut out of wood or shaped in aluminum and then painted in deep colors. With his artwork, he translates the chaos of the world into very simple and straightforward designs. With a few lines or folds he tells you a story.
The works in aluminum have a fluo background which delicately reflects on the wall behind it and a certain glow emerges through the cracks and from behind the artwork.
You might know Bas from his appearance in ‘Stukken van mensen’ where he showed and sold his amazing coat rack, which could easily be mistaken for a painting.
